You can get a New York Public Library card to access Ancestry (genealogy), SimplyE (ebooks and audiobooks), Mango Languages, Morningstar Investment Research Center and many more digital resources!

Note: you must be within the borders of New York State when you are applying in order for the application  service to work.

Instructions:

  1. Install the free SimplyE app on your device.
  2. Go to the menu in the top left corner on Android devices, the bottom right on Apple devices.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Go to Accounts.
  5. In Accounts, go to the + in the circle located in the top right corner.
  6. Choose New York Public Library from the list of libraries.
  7. Allow the app to access your location.
  8. Provide your New York State address.
  9. Create a login.
  10. Click on “Get a Card”.

After the SimplyE app card registration process is completed, an email containing the library card number will be sent to you along with a confirmation that the card is valid for one year only. If you do not receive it within 12 hours, check your spam box. For questions, you can get help at Ask NYPL Chat, which is available Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Access to ebooks and e-audiobooks is instantaneous after the account is established.

To see which databases can be accessed remotely, go to NYPL Articles and Databases 
and look for the databases with an icon of a blue house.
