Shannon Wong, Chapter Director of the Lower Hudson Valley Civil Liberties Union, will discuss the history of her organization’s work to protect, promote and defend our First Amendment rights. The conversation will highlight some past cases and recent issues surrounding the First Amendment. Wong will also provide a brief Know Your Rights When Protesting training.
The work of the NY Civil Liberties Union falls into three areas: to fight hate, protect democracy and defend justice.
As director of the Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union, Shannon Wong organizes legal, educational and community outreach. Her experience with legislative advocacy contributed to the successful passage of paid family leave and public defense reform in New York State.
